Julian Albert \"Al\" McFaden Jr., 83, of Lynchburg, died Friday, February 25, 2011. He was the husband of Elaine Rice McFaden for 62 years.
Al was born April 10, 1927, in Lynchburg, VA, a son of the late Julian Albert McFaden, Sr. and the late Nannie Catherine Morris McFaden. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was retired from Lynchburg General Hospital where he worked as an Audio Visual Technician. He was a member of West Lynchburg Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons, Michael Edward McFaden and wife, Catherine, of Lynchburg, William Bruce McFaden, of Rustburg, Donald Lee McFaden, and wife, Cheryl, of Lynchburg; a daughter, Ellen Moritz, and husband, Mark, of Greenville, SC; daughter-in-law, Cynthia McFaden of Lynchburg; and ten grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Julian Albert McFaden, III, three sisters, Dorothy Catherine Wilson, Margaret Lucille Munson and Edith Tabor.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, February 27, 2011, at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory. A celebration of Al\"™s life will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 28, 2011, at West Lynchburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Robert Putt officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
