Juliana Lucy Charlemagne

August 19, 1953 — March 29, 2024

Juliana Lucy Charlemagne was born on August 19, 1953, in Castries St Lucia, the daughter of Ann Marie Smith and Stepfather Joseph Smith.   In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, James, and John Charlemagne.

Juliana resided in the Barbados for many years and then moved to live in Phillipsburg, Sint Maarten. She later came to the United States and resided in Lynchburg, Virginia for 28 years where she was self-employed and worked for the late Susan Duerson,Narcissa Basten, Betsy Worthington, Ron and Jackie Hill and Mollie Snead. Juliana was a Christian lady all of her life and joined New Dearington Baptist Church where she served on the usher board. She also enjoyed volunteering for the Salvation Army, and Parkview Mission.

Juliana is survived by her four sons, Curtis Charlemagne, Ira Charlemagne, Ian Charlemagne, and Marcus Charlemagne; daughter in-law Mashell Charlemagne; step son Michael James, brother Simon Charlemagne and Matthew Charley; two sisters Julietta Jubaptist, Lynn Charlemagne; three sisters in law, Yolanda Charlemagne, Barbara Prescott, and Debra Charlemagne; seven grandchildren, Jamal Charlemagne, Dawnella Charlemagne, Jahseed Albert, Evian Charlemagne, Iana Charlemagne, Izzagi Charlemagne, Tamika Charlemagne; Nieces and Nephews, Alison Ferdinand, Kenny JnBaptist, Viera Blanchard, Johnetta Ferdinand, Ruport JnBaptist, Ali Charlemagne, Karen Charlemagne, Sylvia Charlemagne-Calloo, Samantha Charlemagne, Jasma Charlemagne, Ann Marie Charlemagne, Franklin Charlemagne, Junni Charlemagne, Peter Donnelly, Paula Donnelly, Sherwin Donnelly, Simon Donnelly, Diana Donnelly, Adela Charlemagne, Francis Prescott, Charlene Charlemagne, Simone Charlemagne, Sade Charlemagne, Francis Charlemagne, Elizabeth Charlemagne, Donna Charlemagne, Brian Charlemagne, and Patricia Charlemagne; Friends that were close to her heart were Shirley Moore, Juliette Austin, Jean Quamina Alstead, Mabil Smith, Jackie Bradley and Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Smith.

The Charlemagne family would like to extend warm special thanks to Tharp Funeral Home for the Ceremony, and Jackson Street Baptist Church, New Dearington Baptist Church and all those that have showed there support offering there condolences and participating in the services ensuring of a special homegoing for Juliana Lucy Charlemagne.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service and celebration of Juliana’s life will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Jackson Street United Methodist Church.
