Karen Elizabeth Quarles

Karen Elizabeth Canard Quarles, 43, of Appomattox, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 19, 2010.  Passing with her were her husband of 18 years, Jon, and daughter, Emily.

Mrs. Quarles was born Friday, May 6, 1966, in Norfolk, a daughter of Carol Gremmler Canard and the late Thomas Clark Canard, and Donna and Shirley Beavers of Hilton Head, SC.  She worked for Centra Health as a respiratory therapist for 11 years.

She is survived by her children, Meghan Pritchard and fiancé, Austin Durrett, of Appomattox, and Matthew Pritchard of Appomattox and his girlfriend, Carrington Watkins of Charlotte Court House; her son, Derrick Quarles, of Lynchburg, her grandchild, Ella Quarles of Lynchburg, her brother, Stephen T. Canard of Lynchburg, and her nephews, Tyler Pearce of Audubon, NJ, Thomas Clark Canard, II of Lynchburg, and Alexander Stephen Canard of Lynchburg.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Monday, January 25, 2010, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.  A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at Heritage Baptist Church with Chaplain Wayne Lanham officiating and on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 following the Celebration of Life Service at Heritage Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Canard, Pritchard, and Quarles Family Memorial Fund.  Checks should be made out to Tharp Funeral Home and mailed to PO Box 15008, Lynchburg, VA 24502.  Funds will be earmarked for designated charities by the family at a later date.
