Karen Gynetha Collins Tanner, of Gladys, VA, was a woman as beautiful, funny, and unique as her name. Born on October 5, 1950, she died peacefully on April 5, 2024. She is now rejoicing in Heaven with Jesus and is reunited with those who went before her, including husband of 54 years, Robert “Bobby” Tanner. Jr; his parents, Robert Tanner, Sr. and Delia Dawson Tanner; and her parents, Leroy Travis Collins and Edith White Collins.
She loved telling people about her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, and crafting. After her youngest son went to kindergarten, she went to school and received her cosmetology license.
She leaves behind a family that will lovingly remember her and miss her including her children Robert “Gerry” Tanner (Dianne), of Concord, VA, Rhonda Cantrell (Greg) of Summerville, SC, Emily Kennon of Gladys, VA, Matt Tanner (Anna) of Fruitland, ID, and Wesley Tanner (Rachel) of Middle River, MD; 13 grandchildren; one great granddaughter; one brother, Glenn Collins (Linda), of Lynchburg, VA. Her family was one of her greatest joys.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 12, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Diamond Hill Presbyterian Church, 1090 Mollies Creek Road, Gladys, VA 24554. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Faith Baptist Church, 968 Village Hwy, Rustburg, VA, 24588.
