Katherine Leona McDannel, 89, of Seagrove, NC, died Wednesday, February 17, 2016. She was the wife of the late George William McDannel Sr., for 25 years.
Born Monday, June 07, 1926 in Erie, PA, Katherine was a daughter of the late Nathan Reynolds and the late Lucretia Lutz Reynolds.
In addition to her husband and parents, Katherine was preceded in death by a brother, Steve Reynolds, and a sister, Florence Reynolds.
Katherine she is survived by her daughter, Deborrah Jeanne Ward and her husband, Vernon Lee Ward, of Seagrove, NC, a son, George William McDannel, Jr., seven grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
A registered nurse for over 30 years, Katherine loved working with children. She enjoyed being outdoors, whether working in her flower gardens, walking, or just enjoying nature. She loved animals of all kinds and could often be found reading a book.
A celebration of Katherine’s life will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg with the Rev. David Heerspink officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Lynchburg Humane Society, 1211 Old Graves Mill Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502.
