Kathleen Carter Taylor
Kathleen Edith Carter Taylor, 93, of Lexington, VA and formerly of Big Island, VA, died Monday, February 14, 2011 in Havenwood Assisted Living. She was born June 7, 1917 in Amherst County, a daughter of the late Nannie Belle Burks Carter and William Jess Carter.
Kathleen was a member of Big Island United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She was also a member of Big Island Garden Club and Big Island Homemakers Club.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Garrett Elmer Taylor. She is survived by two children, Shirley T. Goodbar of Lexington and Donald R. Taylor of Forest; six grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 17, 2011 in Big Island Cemetery with Rev. Byron LePere officiating. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, 586-3443.
