In addition to her husband Mike, she is survived by their daughter, Alice Austin and husband Bob Armock and their children, Sky, Pax and Teak Armock who are Kate’s treasured grandchildren; sister Karen Manial (Mike) of Central Lake, Mich.; brothers, Glenn Marks of Orlando, Fla., C. Willam Marks of Dewitt, Mich., Jerry Marks (Sarah) of Sylvia, N.C., and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Kate found great joy in her family and friends, lending a helping hand and feeding them. She enjoyed all kinds of music and people, camping on Lake Michigan at Ludington State Park for more than 25 years, walks in the woods or gardens, being out in nature and lots of reading. She had many skills. Her cooking and baking made memories for family and friends. She had a fine sense of humor and enjoyed silliness and a shared laugh. She was serious about fairness, justice, courtesy and the truth and led by example with her work ethic. She was kind, thoughtful, considerate, loving, caring and helpful. Though it was difficult leaving her friends in her native Michigan, she found joy in her very special new friends in Lynchburg. She had a big heart and was truly humble.
The family is grateful to the nurses and staff at Guggenheimer Health and Rehab for the attentive, loving care they showed for Kate through her long journey with Alzheimer’s Disease.
In keeping with Kate’s wishes, there will be no Funeral Service. The family will hold a private memorial service for Kate in Michigan at a later date.
In lieu of flowers or memorial contributions, she would like folks to continue to be loving and considerate to one another. “We are all in this together” she would say.
