Katie Overstreet Lynch

Katie Lyla Overstreet Lynch, 60, of Bedford, died Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Bedford Memorial Hospital. She was born September 12, 1951 in Bedford, a daughter of the late Hazel Victoria Johnson Overstreet and Willie Mack Overstreet.

Katie was a special lady who put others before herself. She was an avid gardner who loved to cook, garden and care for her chickens. She loved her family and cared for all. Katie loved to play the guitar for family and church events. Katie was known for her kindness and generosity. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Sammie Richard Lynch; a son, Brian Curtis Lynch; three brothers, Fred Overstreet, Frank Overstreet and William Overstreet; and four sisters, Nina Pritchard, Effie Amos, Freda Little and Frances Overstreet.   She is survived by two sons, Willie Lynch and his wife, Laurie of Bedford and Buck Lynch and his wife, Stephanie of Goodview; a brother, Floyd L. Overstreet and his wife, Ida of Thaxton; two sisters, Flora O. Shelton and her husband, Marion of Walnut Cove, NC and Ellen O. Overstreet and her husband, Dale of Bedford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 AM, Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Holy Land Cemetery with Chaplain Wayne Lanham officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home. To send condolences, please visit www.obituaries.tharpfuneralhome.com.
