Kelsey ‘Kelso’ Marie Phelps was called home to be with Jesus on June 14, 2023.
Born in Bedford County, VA on April 2, 1997, she was the 4th of 5 children born to Stephan Ray Phelps and Michelle Hawkins Phelps. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her siblings: Lauren (Dan) Hayden, Brittany (Jared) Etheridge, Andrew Phelps, and Sydney Phelps, along with 4 nephews: Ezra & Jude Etheridge, and Simeon & Lincoln Hayden.
Kelsey was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents: Beryle Francis Phelps, Sr. and Frances Young Phelps and maternal grandparents: David Stafford Hawkins, Sr. and Carol Perdue Hawkins.
Kelsey was a 2016 graduate of Jefferson Forest High School where she participated in Color Guard and Winter Guard competitions. She studied Cosmetology at Bedford Science and Technology Center during high school and obtained her cosmetology license prior to high school graduation and has worked in several salons and barber shops in and around the Lynchburg area.
Kelsey was bold, brave, artistic, kind, compassionate, and generous beyond her means.
Kelsey gave her heart to Jesus on March 16, 2023. While we grieve that her life was cut short, we rejoice that she no longer suffers the pain and heartache of this world, and we hold on to the hope that we will see her again.
A memorial service will be held at Church 24/7, 20190 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502 on Saturday, July 1 at 2pm.
