Kenneth B. Fisher, 77, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, February 15, 2024.

He was the son of Bert H. Fisher and Rita M. Fisher (nee Smith).  Kenny was born on January 27, 1947 in Yonkers, New York. He attended Manhattan College engineering program, then later joined the Navy becoming a Quartermaster on the Destroyer Charles H. Roan DD853, rising to the rank of Petty Officer second class. While in the Navy he travelled to every continent, truly seeing the world. After his tour in the Navy and discharge he returned home to Lynchburg. He entered Lynchburg College obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree then a master’s in business administration. He went to work as director of Arts and Crafts for the City of Lynchburg Parks and Recreation Division, fulfilling a dream of working with artists and craftsmen. He was an instructor of oil painting, Disco dance, and added a multitude of craft and art classes to the program. He created and hosted “All the Arts,” a television interview show for local artists and crafters.  Kenny was the director and producer of Folly Stix Theater. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic church, and member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed golf and loved to dance. Kenny was a dynamic personality with a fun-loving spirit. He was always ready for a good time. His greatest joy was his son Kenneth Glenn. KG was his pride and joy.

Kenny is survived by his son Kenneth Glenn Fisher (Katie) and siblings Ellen Gilhooley, Dorothy Kidd (Phil), and Bert Fisher. Six nieces and nephews, Ellen Gilhooley, John Gilhooley (Susie) Patricia Gilhooley, Kelly Doherty (Richie), Amy Kidd, David Kidd (Kristin) twelve great nieces and nephews, four great- great nieces and nephews. He is loving known as “GUK” Great Uncle Kenny.

In addition to his parents, and grandparents, he is predeceased by an older sister, Rita Lee Fisher.

Visitation will be held at Tharp Funeral Home, Breezewood Dr. on Friday, February 23, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m.  A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Clay Street, with a reception to follow in The Commons. After the reception, the burial will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery on Bedford Ave.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Holy Cross Church of Lynchburg or your charity of choice.
