Kenneth L. Wright

Kenneth Lynn Wright 66 passed peacefully in his home, in the embrace of his devoted wife and daughter with family surrounding him, on February 9, 2021. He is now with his Lord and beloved MeMa and Pops. Born January 19, 1955 in Knoxville, Tennessee, he was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson Wright and Jean Tanner Wright.
Though he lived with the ravages of brain cancer for his last five years, Kenny, to his family and friends, was kind and gentle, appreciative of all his caregivers, never complained. He continued to push through various therapies and stages of the disease with his famous one-liners to make others laugh.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Lori Jessee Wright, his daughter, Alyson Wright, Granddog, Smokey, brother, Wayne Wright (Carolyn), sisters Kaye Orange and Barbara Griffin (Ross) his best friend and cousin Delvin Tanner (Dee), special nieces and nephews, and a few friends that were lovingly referred to as his “brother from another mother”.
Kenneth grew up in Big Island, Virginia and lived the life of a country boy, outdoors. He enjoyed running beagles for rabbits, hunting deer, and fishing with his father and friends. He and his buddies loved spending time on the Parkway trail riding. After graduating in the First Class at Jefferson Forest Highschool, he we went to work for Fidelity National Bank and several mergers later, retired from Wachovia Bank with 30 years of service. He then went to work for Henderson’s Furniture Company, delivering furniture. It was said that the customers would order more furniture just to have a chance to talk and laugh with him.
He loved vacations with family and friends to Pigeon Forge, Tenn. and was a big Tennessee Vols fan. Kenny was an avid Duck decoy collector. He and his family enjoyed going to festivals from Maryland, the Eastern Shore and through the Carolinas. Kenneth took great care of his wife, home and family but most of all, like his mother, he taught them all how to share love with each other. Never walk out the door, hang up the phone, say goodnight without saying “I love you” to those lucky enough to love him.
The family would like to express appreciation for his long-time Caregiver, Candice Henderson not only for her excellent attention to Kenny’s needs but for the care, affection and support she gave to him and his family. Thanks also, to Senior Independence Hospice care, especially his nurse, Tabitha Draluck.
