Kenneth Louis Peery, 86, of Evington, died on Thursday, July 16, 2015. He was the loving husband of Betty Cook Peery.
Born in Botetourt County, Va., January 21, 1929, Kenneth was the son of the late Houston Oliver Peery and Fanny Duke Peery. Kenneth honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired as a driver from Harris Trucking Company.
In addition to his wife, Kenneth is survived by his son, Kenneth L. Peery, II and his wife, Renee, of Evington; his daughter, Beth Peery St. John, of Evington; one brother, William Peery, of Evington; his sister, Francis Robertson, of Concord; five grandchildren, Trey Peery and wife Tia, Trevor Peery and wife Sandi, Sara Schartiger and husband Tyler, Brandi St. John, and Alden St. John; and one great-grandchild Cameron Peery. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Peery, Henry Peery and Elbert Peery; and his sister, Charlene Coleman.
The family will receive friends at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg on Sunday, July 19, 2015, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. A Celebration of Kenneth’s life will be held at Tharp Funeral Chapel on Monday, July 20, 2015, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Carl Weiser and the Rev. Marvin Hiner officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
