Kenneth Lynn Cobbs

Kenneth Lynn Cobbs, 64 of Forest, died on Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Susan Cobbs for 40 years.

Born Sunday, June 5, 1949 in Ohio, he was the son of Alice Marie England Cobbs and the late Virgil L. Cobbs. He served in the United States Coast Guard, was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church and had retired from BP after 35 years of service.

Kenneth was a devoted family man and loved spending time with them whether it be gardening, traveling, sharing train stories or taking them for rides in his Corvette.  After retirement, he worked side by side with his son at their local family business.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his children: Kenneth L. Cobbs II & Jennifer of Forest, Elizabeth S. Cobbs-Larkin & Joshua of Rustburg, grandchildren: Ashleigh & Averie Cobbs , Chloe & Tate Huffman, Landen Larkin, a sister: Sharon Nosky & Gary of Westlake, OH, a nephew: Erik Nosky, an aunt: Aileen Schmitt of Pembroke Pines, FL, cousins: Jill Kline & Tim, Katelyn Kline, David Schmitt & Janet, Ryan Schmitt and Kyle Schmitt, his father and mother-in-law; Kenneth & Midgie Schmidt, brothers-in-law: Charles & Barbara Schmidt and James & Christine Schmidt, a sister-in-law: Peggy Burow & Reverend Paul Burow.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 1, 2013 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg.

A Celebration of Kenneth\"™s Life will be held at 11.00am Monday, December 2, 2013 at Court Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Edwin Clever officiating. Interment will follow at Virginia Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be sent to Court Street United Methodist Church 621 Court Street Lynchburg, VA 24504 or to the National Corvette Museum, 350 Corvette Drive Bowling Green, KY 42101.
