Kenneth Warren Jamerson, Sr.

Kenneth Warren Jamerson, Sr., 79, of Lynchburg died Sunday November 9, 2014. He was the devoted husband of Betsy Jones Jamerson for 59 years.

Kenneth was born on December 9, 1934 and grew up in Spout Spring, VA, a son of the late Hunter Jamerson and the late Eva Meredith Jamerson. He was a graduate of the Virginia State Police Academy. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard. His career spanned years of law enforcement, retiring as Safety Director of Central Virginia Trucking. After retirement he was a security officer at Virginia Baptist Hospital and funeral assistant with Tharp Funeral Home. Kenneth served as Justice of the Peace and as an Assistant County Judge with Appomattox County. He was instrumental in organizing the Appomattox County Rescue Squad, serving as the first Captain. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter Sandy L. Jamerson of Lynchburg, his two sons: Kenneth W. “Chip” Jamerson, Jr. and his wife Carol of Richmond and Jeffrey H. Jamerson and his wife Tracey of Lynchburg, a sister Gertrude Wells of Forest, seven grandchildren: Hunter W. Jamerson and his wife Beth, Allen J. Jamerson, Carrie L. Carlile and husband Draper, Anne-Marie Dickson and husband Jason, Leland G. Gibson, II, Chris A. Jamerson and Ryan T. Jamerson, one great grandchild Jacob D. Carlile, brothers and sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his special companion, his dog Bailey.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. tonight, Tuesday November 11, 2014 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg and at other times at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1022 Floyd St. Lynchburg with the Rev. Steven W. Willis officiating. Interment will be held privately at Spring Hill Cemetery.
