Celebration of Life
My life’s been full, I savored much
Good Friends, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seems all to brief
Don’t lengthen your pain with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and peace to thee,
God wanted me now- He set me free.
Quietly and gently, with everlasting love, our Lord and Savior summoned his servant Kevin J’ovan Boston home in the quiet of the morning on February 2, 2022. The son of Rev. Thea Wanda Boston and the late Donald Elbert Boston, Kevin, was born in Lynchburg, VA, on January 28, 1977. His grandparents Theodore and Thelma Hubbard, Uncle Gregory T. Hubbard, and Aunt Barbara A. Dickens preceded him in death.
Kevin accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He was a member of the historic Court Street Baptist Church, where the late Rev. Donald Johnson baptized him. Kevin loved the Lord and always knew where to turn in times of need and celebration.
Kevin will be remembered not only by his family but by the countless people whose lives he touched. Whether on the gridiron at E.C. Glass, in a kitchen preparing meals from the heart for others, to a friend in need; or the simple words of comfort and support during times of need, Kevin’s impact on others was always strong and positive.
Kevin graduated from E.C. Glass High School in 1995. He was a star football and track athlete, playing in state championship games and track meets and earning football scholarships to Virginia Union and Benedict College. Kevin was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching games with his family and friends. His passion was cooking, which he shared with his mom and uncles when they provided catering services for local businesses and families. However, his love for cooking never stopped as he continued to serve up many soul food and seafood dishes for the holiday gatherings with those he loved.
Kevin loved his family deeply and always took time to call and visit. He especially loved being a father, grandfather, and cousin. Perhaps the most extraordinary feeling for Kevin was that he knew a forgiving Heavenly Father loved him. Kevin knew he was loved with a mother’s unconditional love.
Left to cherish his memories are his mother Reverend Thea Wanda Boston. His daughter Mary Muindi and grandson Llanzo Muindi. His sisters Miechelle Boston and Tara Gay; brother Donald A. Boston (Laura). Uncles and Aunts: Reverend Warren and Yvette Anderson (Patrina, Vanessa, and Samuel); Edwardo Hubbard; Michael Hubbard (Alex, Madison, and Zachary); Anthony Hubbard; Keith and Tracy Hubbard (Maqoi and Miller); Melvin Boston (Delois); Jacquline Stallings, Ronald Stallings, and Marion Williams. Cousins Gregory A. Hubbard, Marisha Pierce, Shaun Stallings, Taru Stallings, Desiree Stallings Hunter, Carla Lewis, Cartier Kearney and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Celebration of Kevin’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Court Street Baptist Church.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
