Kingsland Arnold

Kingsland Arnold, age 96, died on April 17, 2011. He came of age in Houston, Texas graduating San Jacinto High School in 1932, and the Rice Institute, now Rice University, in 1936. His working career of fifty years was in geophysics for major oil companies.

He was predeceased by his wife of fifty-nine years, Mary Bentley Arnold, his son Leslie Kingsland Arnold, PhD, parents Leslie Adam Arnold and Louise Kingsland Arnold, brother Col. Leslie Adam Arnold, sister-in-law Elizabeth Durkin Arnold, and grandson John Randall Arnold.

He is survived by his son John Byrd Arnold, MD, and his wife Helen, daughter-in-law Beth Randall Arnold, and grandchildren Hilary Louise Arnold Isaccson, JD, MPH, and her husband Jason, Martha Cameron Arnold, MA and her husband Pradeep Chundawat, Hugh Kingsland Arnold, MLS, Sarah Elizabeth Arnold Magder, and her husband Richard, and his great grandsons Alexander Sage Magder, and Luka James Magder, as well as many well loved nieces and nephews.

Mr. Arnold was for many years active in the Boy Scout movement, both as a Scoutmaster and trainer of adult leaders. He was awarded the Silver Beaver, the highest award for volunteer service given by the Scouting organization. He was a positive influence on many young men.

A memorial service for Mr. Arnold will be held on May 14, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Commons Room at Westminster Canterbury. The family will receive guests and friends at Westminster Canterbury following the service.
