Lawrence Dewitt "Larry" Williams

December 29, 1938 — September 6, 2021

Lawrence Dewitt “Larry” Williams, Jr., 82 of Lynchburg, was called home to be with the Lord on September 6, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born in Giles County, Virginia, on December 29, 1938, to the late Helen and Dewitt Williams.  He was preceded in death by his sisters; Beulah Bostic, Evelyn Knibb, and Lois Cumbie.

Larry worked at Quality Foods for 19 years before he retired and was a fifty-year Mason with the Edward N. Eubank Masonic Lodge No. 262. He was a deacon at Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church and treasured his church family.  He loved fishing and was the most loyal UNC Basketball fan, having followed them since 1962.  He loved spending time with his family and openly expressed his love for them any chance he could.

He is survived by his loving and faithful wife of 57 years, Judy; his sister Jackie Etheridge; his four children and their spouses: Fred and Patricia Williams, Travain and Phil Sutphin, Troy and Rayna Williams, Todd and Carol Williams; grandchildren: Sean, Erin, Conner, Alissa, Hailey (Austin), Troy Jr, Emily, Savanah (Brett), Amy, Nina (Andrew), Wyatt, Cyndel, Kaitlyn, Sydney, and Anna Jane; great-grandchildren: Colton, Emersyn, Zeke, and Charles; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends.

We would like to whole heartly thank Gentle Shephard Hospice for the extraordinary care and support that they provided for both Larry and Judy. We would like to give a special thank-you to both Susan Coffey and Lisa Wright for the outstanding care and love they provided.

There will be a celebration of life scheduled at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church, Lynchburg, Virginia, Gentle Shepherd Hospice or a charity of your choice.
