Lawrence “Larry” Phillip Mann

Lawrence “Larry” Phillip Mann, 79, of Lynchburg, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 28. 2021. He was married to Beverly Frye Mann for 58 years.

Born in the Brookneal area of Campbell County, VA on July 3, 1941, he was the son of the late Samuel Vernon Mann, Jr. and Pearlie Smith Mann. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren Vernon Mann and James Russell Mann; and a sister, Katherine Frances Lloyd.

Larry was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, friend, and active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lynchburg for over 53 years. He saw God’s hand at work in everything and found contentment in the simple things of life. Raised on a farm, he always loved being outdoors, growing flowers, gardening, and keeping the birds well fed around his house. Larry​ was a gentle, kind-hearted soul who brought a nurturing spirit to all that he did.​ ​His family was his most cherished blessing.

In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by two daughters, Tammy Parlier and Wendy Snow (Jeff), all of Forest; a sister, Lucille Holmes Groat, and sister-in-law, Jane Peters Mann, both of Lynchburg; five grandchildren: David Parlier (Skylar), Jacob Snow (Alana), all of Lynchburg; Matthew Parlier, Katherine Snow, and Michael Parlier, all of Forest.

A private family service will be conducted Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Louis Beckwith, Jr. officiating. All family and friends are welcome to attend the graveside service at the Masonic Garden in Fort Hill Memorial Park in Lynchburg beginning at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 20957 Timberlake Road, Lynchburg, VA 24502, or to the American Cancer Society for the advancement of pancreatic cancer research.
