Lawrence Richerson

July 8, 1943 — February 19, 2024

Lawrence Edward Richerson, 80, fell asleep in death, on February 19, 2024. He was born July 8, 1943  in Amherst, Virginia, to Cordie and Francis Richerson.

At the age of 18 he met Uldine Rucker and they were married four years later on February 26th, 1966.

Known for his work ethic, Lawrence was employed  at Virginia Department of Transportation and retired on July 1st, 2001 after 28 years of service.

Lawrence is survived by his wife Uldine Richerson, children - Darlene (Demone) Haythe, Lamont (Veronica) Richerson, Lonnie Richerson, Andrea (John) Thompson, Kimberly (Daniel) Wakil, grandchildren -  Maria (Brien) Spinner-Edwards, Damen Richerson, Cierra Richerson, Alanna Richerson, Lamonica Richerson, Gabrielle Richerson, Desmond Haythe, Delano Richerson, and Aniyah Richerson and  great-grandchildren - Scarlett Spinner and Olivia Richerson.

Lawrence is proceeded in  death by his mother, and father,  two brothers and two sisters, and is survived by two brothers and four sisters.

Lawrence and Uldine always appreciated the Bible. When they had the opportunity to learn more, they accepted a home bible study with Jehovah’s Witnesses. What they learned touched them deeply. Lawrence and Uldine made changes in their lives for the better and eventually qualified and publicly declared their dedication to Jehovah  on November 11, 1970, becoming known as Jehovah’s Witnesses. Lawrence and Uldine faithfully attended the Amherst Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  Together, Lawrence and Uldine used every opportunity to teach and preach the Good News of the Kingdom - (Matt. 24:14) helping his children, and others, to love God as they did.

Lawrence looked forward to the hope promised at Revelation 21:3 & 4.

“God will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more...the former things have passed away.”
