Lelia Lane Watson Dudley

Lelia Lane Watson Dudley, 91, of Moneta, died Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Runk & Pratt Nursing Home. She was the loving wife of the late James William Dudley. They were married for 54 years.

 Born May 17, 1921 in Moneta, she was a daughter of the late Johnnie Daniel Watson and Mattie Agatha Anderson. She was a retired federal employee with the Defense General Supply. Lelia graduated in 1937 as valedictorian at Moneta High School. She was a lifetime member of the Moneta Garden Club, and a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church.

 In addition to her parents and husband, she is also preceded in death by four brothers, one sister, and son-in-law, Charles Couture.

 She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Couture; son, James Watson Dudley, Sr. and wife, Lydia B.; a brother, Richard Anderson Watson and wife, Laura; grandchildren, James Watson Dudley, Jr. and wife, Debra, Robert Wayne Dudley and wife, Stacy, Dean Mavridis; a sister in law, Margaret Watson; three great-grandchildren, Sydney, Paige, and Reese Dudley; and a number of nieces and nephews.

 At her request a graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery in Moneta, conducted by the Rev. David Lord.

 The family will receive friends today, Monday, March 18, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford.

 The family would like to thank the care givers at Runk & Pratt for the care given to Lelia.
