Leona Martin Haymaker
Leona Martin Haymaker, of Moneta, was called home by the Lord, Wednesday, January 2, 2013 after a long battle with COPD. She was the daughter of the late H. Dewitt Martin and Nellie Lane Martin.
In addition to her parents, Leona was preceded in death by her siblings, Norma Epperley, Raymond \"Jack\" Martin, and Harold D. Martin; a brother-in-law, Pat Millehan; and two sisters-in-law, Rita Martin and Peggy Martin. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Don Haymaker; and son, David Haymaker (Kathy); two grandchildren; and one great-granddaugther. Her surviving siblings are twin sister, Naomi Jamison (Vernon), Doris Millehan, Wanda Myers (Chuck), Betty Wood (Bill), June Alcorn (Carlton), and Charles Martin (Pat); and numerous precious nieces and nephews who were so special to her.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 628 Campbell Ave., Roanoke, VA 24016 or a charity of your choice.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 PM, Sunday, January 6, 2013 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens & Mausoleums with her niece, Rev. Jennifer Martin officiating. Arrangements by Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, (540)-586-3443.
