Leonard Lee Wood, 83, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2017 at Oakwood Manor Health & Rehab. He was born on August 21, 1933 in Bedford County, VA. He was the son of the late Charles Ira Wood and Ruby Virginia Rice Wood. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Barbara St.Clair Wood; three brothers, Mack E. Wood, James H. Wood and Charles A. Wood; two brother-in-law’s, Clarence “Renny” Brookshier and Carl Blankenship.
Leonard was a member of Suck Spring Baptist Church. He retired from the Rubatex Corp as a welder for 39 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, farming, horses, motorcycles, old farm equipment, music especially Bluegrass. He also served his country in the Army National Guard for 12 years.
Leonard was survived by two daughters, Karen W. Stanley and husband, Ray and Linda W. “Lou” Meador and husband, Dennis; six grandchildren, Clifton and wife, Laura, Scott and wife, Amanda, Carla and husband Travis, Marissa and husband, Webster, Corley and wife, Niven and Justin and wife, Audrey; 12 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Raymond Wood and wife, Carrie, Maurice Wood and wife, Evyleen, and Sherman Wood and wife, Dorothy; four sisters, Mae Brookshier, Eleanor Overstreet, Frances Stanley and husband, William and Joyce Blankenship; three sisters-in-law, Annie W. Mitchell, Ann Wood and Sheree Wood; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A graveside service and celebration of Leonard’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, January 20, 2017 at Greenwood Cemetery in Bedford.
