Leonard “Pops” Willie Peverall, 96, of Bedford, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at Bedford Co. Nursing Home. He was born on September 18, 1921 in Roanoke, VA. A son of the late Arthur Peverall and Nora Tyler Peverall. In addition to his parents Pops was preceded in death by his loving wife, Hazel Daniels Peverall, his only daughter, Sandra Peveral White Hurt and his only son Jerry L. Peveral.
Pops served his country in the United States Navy. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor. He worked and retired from Norfolk & Southern Railway. He loved gardening, going for a swim and was always ready for a friendly game of checkers.
He is survived by two brothers, Cecil Peverall (Betty) and Raymond Peverall; Also one grandson, Fred “Will” White, Jr. (Donna Slade), two granddaughters, Mary M. Hurt (Rafeal Ramos) and Jessica Peverall Borisch (Tom); seven great-grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.
The family would like to give thanks to the staff of Bedford Co. Nursing Home for taking such good care of “Pops”. In lieu of flowers the family would like donations to be made to the National D-day Memorial.
