Leonard Wayne Ferguson

\"To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord\"

 

Leonard Wayne Ferguson, 75, of Evington, died on Friday, January 20, 2012. He was the husband of Mary Frances Seamster Ferguson.

 

Wayne was born March 11, 1936 in Ringgold, a son of the late Henry Leonard Ferguson and the late Lessie Burgess Ferguson. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and had worked with the youth of the Church in the past. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army National Guard. He was retired from General Electric where he was an Electronics Technician for 24 years and later worked for John Fluke Manufacturing in sales.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Dr. Tammy Ferguson of Danville and Carole F. Daly and husband, Daniel of Manakin Sabot; a granddaughter, Danielle Mary Daly and a grandson, Jonathan Fergus Daly both of Manakin Sabot; a sister, Margie F. Layne and husband, Donald of Danville; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Osborne and Jeanne B. Seamster both of Danville and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Wayne was predeceased by his brothers-in-law, Willard Osborne and James B. Seamster.

 

The family will receive friends from 2:00 -3:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Beulah Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Brian Seay officiating. Burial will follow in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. Friends may also visit in the home.

 

The family would like to thank Centra Hospice, especially Alice Powell and everyone at The Elderly Place for their care for Wayne during his illness.
