Leonard William Comer

August 26, 1938 — February 14, 2018

Leonard William Comer, 79, of Rustburg, died Wednesday, February 14, 2018. He was the husband of Regina Frances Flanigan Comer for 56 years.

Born Friday, August 26, 1938 in Rich Creek, Va., Leonard was a son of the late Earnest Eugene Comer and the late Dolores Good Comer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Elgene W. Comer.

In addition to his wife, Leonard is survived by his children, Chris Marsh and her husband, Mike, of Lynchburg, Missy Sherman and her husband, Keith, of Evington, and Brian Comer and his wife, Michele of Raleigh, N.C.; five grandchildren: Justin Marsh and wife Bethany, Kirby Marsh (Nate), Danielle Sherman (Michael), Austin Sherman, and Autumn Comer. Survived by two brothers, Jerry Comer of Virginia Beach and Sam Comer of  Tazewell, Va.

Leonard served our country in the U.S Army as Medic in Company D Third Infantry. He graduated from the National Business College in Business Administration Management and was a dedicated employee of Aerofin for forty-five years. Leonard was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who loved his family. He was a proud family man that enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s events.

We would like to thank Dr. Kevin Patel and the staff of the Alan B. Pearson Cancer Center. Also, Hospice and Team Nurse of Altavista, with a special thanks to Lexi Lamb and Natasha Duby who took great care of Leonard.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg.
