Leslie Yvonne Stanbery Watson, 87, of Lynchburg, passed away Wednesday morning, June 11, 2014, at Lynchburg General Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Brevard, NC on February 21, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Gene W. Stanbery and Yvonne M. Shuford and was the wife of the late Guy H. Watson, Sr.
Leslie was gracious and loving, extended her home and arms to anyone who entered, and made you feel you were a part of her family. She loved working in her yard, good times at the beach and spending time with family and friends. She leaves a huge hole in all our hearts.
She is survived by two sons, Guy H. Watson, Jr. and his partner John Fortney of Emerald Isle, NC, Michael E. Watson and his wife Dinah of Bent Creek; a daughter Cathy W. Weber of Forest; grandchildren, Jason Watson and his wife Renee, Lindsay Watson and Thorn Fortney; great-grandchildren, Raegan and William Hatcher Watson and Debbie Hargis who she considered a daughter and her son Ryan.
She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Carl J. Weber, her sister, Gene Elam and her brother Fred Stanbery.
The family sends a special thank you to her loving care-giver, Linda Davis and Leslie’s many friends and family.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Blue Ridge Community Church. The family will receive friends following the service at a reception at the church and at other times at her residence.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The American Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
