Lester Payne Harris, 82, of Lynchburg, VA, died Monday, September 08, 2014. He was the loving husband of Sadie McConville Harris for 61 years.
Mr. Harris was born Thursday, April 21, 1932 in Lynchburg, VA, a son of the late Joseph Thomas Harris and the late Alma Hudson Harris. He was a Carpenter by trade, who enjoyed building. He was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church for 58 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by; a daughter: Mary Tobias and son Glenn Harris and his wife, Roxanne; his grandchildren: Robert, Amy and husband Barry, Nicole, Jonathan and wife Britney, Matthew and David; great-grandchildren: Jay, Maleah, Jesse, Bradley, Alexis and Arianna.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter: Cindy Kay Harris and a son: Tony Harris and four brothers and five sisters.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11 am on Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Pleasant View Baptist Church. A celebration of Lester’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am in the church with Dr. Ricky Ewing officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
