Lester Wayne Tyree, 65, of Madison Heights went to be with the Lord Saturday October 22, 2011.

Wayne was born in Lynchburg October 22, 1946 a son of the late Lester Herbert Tyree and Sarah Brooks Abbott of Amherst County. Wayne honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked as a welder and pipefitter for many years and he loved the outdoors which included hunting, fishing, and working in his garden. He also attended Living Water Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother he is survived by three sons: Ronnie Tyree and wife Felisha of Madison Heights; Robert Tyree of Rustburg; and Scott Tyree and wife Renee of Appomattox County, a daughter Lisia Tyree of Rustburg, two sisters: Connie Tomlin and husband Archie of Madison Heights, and Wanda Milton of Amherst, eight grandchildren: Brad, Tyler, Tiffany, Robert, Michael, Kody, Kandice, and Donald, three nephews: A.W., John and Chad, a niece Leslie, two brothers-in-laws: Carl Davis and wife Ann of Forest and Barry Davis of Pittsylvania County, a special Aunt Ginny Goff of Madison Heights, and a special cousin (who was more like a brother) Garnet Goff of Madison Heights.

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his wife Freida Tyree.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today Tuesday October 25, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home Madison Heights.

A Celebration of Wayne\"™s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday October 26, 2011 at Living Water Baptist Church with Pastor Marvin Suitt officiating. Interment will follow at Meade Cemetery with military honors to be performed by American Legion Post #16.
