Levy Henderson Radford

Levy Henderson Radford, 87 of Big Island, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Davis and McDaniel Veterans Care Center in Roanoke, VA. He was born in Edenton, NC on April 10, 1937. A son of the late Levi Radford and Mary Lucy Ange Radford. In addition to his parents Levy was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Radford; son, Charles White; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Allen, and Ryan Staley; three brothers and four sisters.

Levy served his country in the United States Marine Corp and the National Guard. He and his wife were members of Hunting Creek Baptist Church in Big Island. He loved his family and his time spent with each of them. His love of the mountains and being outdoors is what brought him to Big Island many years ago after visiting a church camp in his youth. Levy also loved woodworking and watching westerns. He was loved dearly by his family. His legacy will continue through his children and grandchildren.

Levy is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Ann George Radford; nine children, Barbara Lee, Dale Workman (John), Amy Staley, Syble Shellito (Robert), Mary Lucy Barrett, Cindy Herrington (Larry), William Radford (Ann), Marion Reed (Wayne) and Alexander Radford (Melanie); 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

A funeral service and Celebration of Levy’s life will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at Hunting Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Ken Bledsoe officiating.
