Lewis Benjamin Arthur, 86, of Coleman Falls, died Friday, January 22, 2010. He was the husband of Caroline Barker Arthur for 59 years.
Ben was born April 11, 1923, in Coleman Falls, a son of the late Lewis Conway Arthur and Nellie Mitchell Arthur. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the destroyer, USS Hunt. He was retired from Owens-Illinois where he was a mechanic for 40 years. He was a member of Cove United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Cindy Krahn and husband, Michael, of Maui, HI, and Ben Scott Arthur and wife, Julie, of Petersburg; his brother, Carey Arthur and wife, Betty, of Spout Spring; his sisters, Irene Feagans of Lynchburg and Betty Jones and husband, David, of Courtland; step-grandsons, Travis Mohr of Quantico and Tim Mohr of Richmond.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon Arthur.
Ben was an avid hunter and fisherman. Per his wishes, no services will be held. He will be cremated and his ashes scattered amidst the things he loved, his bees, his garden, and where he cared for his many hunting dogs.
