Lewis Merl Jackson, Sr., 80, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, October 4, 2017. He was the husband of Lollas Hutcherson Jackson.
Lewis was born May 20, 1937 in Gladys, a son of the late Henry Clay Jackson and Della Eye Jackson. Lewis honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy, was a professional truck driver with ConAgra, and a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Joan Hamlett of North Carolina, Cathy Collins of Lynchburg, Lewis M. Jackson, Jr. and wife, Tamara, of Brookneal, Joseph C. Jackson of Bedford, and Chester Collins of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two sisters: Viola Puryear and Ida Perkins both of Lynchburg; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass for Lewis will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 2017 at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Monsignor J. Kenneth Rush as celebrant. Interment will be held privately at Holy Cross Cemetery.
