Lewis Pascal Craig 89, of Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 in Lynchburg General Hospital. Born June 19, 1926 in Bedford, VA; a son of the late Paschal Hopkins Craig and Luettie Jane Stevens Craig. In addition to his parents Lewis is preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Pauline Audrey Rebecca Woodford Craig and a daughter Patricia Craig.Lewis was a lifetime member of Timber Ridge Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was one of four sons and two son-in-laws to serve in the war from his family on September 18, 1944. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunting especially coon hunting. He was a member of the VFW post 2157. He also loved all animals but most of all his dogs.Lewis is survived by two children, Sharon Cassidy of Bedford and Timothy Craig of Lynchburg; two granddaughters, Michell Cassidy and Melynda Cassidy both of Bedford; four great-grandchildren, Anthony “Tony” Puckett, Jessica Puckett, Brittany Puckett, and Mikaela Elkins all of Bedford; two sisters, Eleanor Reid Newman and Mammie Newman; also numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 2157 of Bedford or Timber Ridge Baptist Church.A celebration of Lewis’s life will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 17, 2015 at Timber Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Phillip Kelley and Pastor Danny Newman officiating. Burial will follow in Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM, Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Home.
