Lillian Frances Mason, 76, of Madison Heights went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. She was the loving wife of Thomas “Loyd” Mason for 36 years.
Born May 27, 1938 in Lynchburg, Frances was the daughter of the late Alec D. Brooks and the late Gertrude Mann Cofer.
In addition to her husband, Frances is survived by her children: Rebekah Dearden, of Madison Heights, Shaun Dearden and his wife Karen of Lynchburg, and Heather Johnson and her husband, Carlton of Huddleston, Martin Dearden of Nebraska, Cheryl Dearden of Montana, Deborah Taylor of Washington, Clifford Dearden of Montana, and a sister Sharon Childress, of Lynchburg. Grandchildren include John Thacker and wife Erica of Madison Heights, Krystal Tatlock and husband Robert of Madison Heights, Michael Johnston of Lynchburg, Daniel Dearden of Lynchburg, Brittany Johnson of Huddleston, Traci Johnson of Huddleston, and a host of grandchildren abroad. Great-grandchildren include Kaylynn and Kellsey Tatlock and baby Thacker to-be.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her brother Harry Cofer Jr., her eldest son, Charles “Chuck” Dearden Jr., and her grandson Bryan Thacker Jr.
Fran was a loving mother, grandma and great-grandma, a friend to all who crossed her path, including any animal that needed a home. Her professional accomplishments include careers in nursing and retail. Most recently, she served as a volunteer at Lynchburg General Hospital. But most of all, she dedicated her life to her family. She loved us more!

A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 8, 2014 at Thomas Terrace Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Pickett officiating.
