Lillian Catherine Karnes, age 87, of Roanoke, died on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Emeritus of Roanoke. Catherine was born on September 24, 1926; the daughter of the late Albert Cleveland Karnes and Kate Toms Karnes. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Karnes and five brothers, Dean Karnes, Eugene Karnes, Albert Karnes, Claude Karnes, and Clyde Karnes.
Catherine was a retired teacher with Roanoke City Schools and was a faithful member of Colonial Baptist Church. Catherine is survived by one sister, Rebecca Karnes of Roanoke; three sisters-in-law, Offie Karnes of Roanoke, Estelle Karnes and Dorothy Karnes both of Bedford; also numerous nieces and nephews.
A Graveside service will be conducted at 11:30 am in Suck Spring Baptist Church Cemetery in Bedford County on Friday, May 30, 2014.
