Adreana Riley Garbee, 93, of Lynchburg, Virginia went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, August 2, 2024 surrounded by family. She was born on April 7, 1931 to Thomas L. Riley and Lillian H. Riley. She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband of 72 years, Miles Keith Garbee, and her son Phillip Earl Garbee.
Adreana was a graduate of Brookville High School, class of 1948. She married her husband, Keith Garbee, on June 30, 1950. Together they raised three children, Phillip Earl Garbee (Jackie) of Richmond, Laura Garbee Lin (David) of Forest, and Mary Garbee Hines (David) of Roanoke, Virginia.
In 1966, Adreana started a career at Lynchburg College where she worked in the Registrar’s Office and Bookstore, all the while being a bookkeeper for her husband’s small business. Although her jobs kept her busy she always found the time to pursue her true passions of running a household and taking care of her family. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed many hobbies, especially cooking and gardening. She was a long-time member of Marsh Memorial Church where she served in several capacities as Treasurer, Historian, Choir member, and United Methodist Women. She also helped to count the weekly offering and was instrumental in decorating the church and planning special events. In 1994, she retired from Lynchburg College in order to spend more time with her family.
In addition to her two daughters, Adreana is survived by six grandchildren, Riley Fitzgerald (Brian) and Miles Stevenson (Ryan) of Roanoke, Teresa Bonifas (Danny) of Powhatan, Patrick Lin of New Orleans, Robin Troutman (Ken) of Lynchburg, and Jarrett Garbee of Richmond. She is also survived by two step granddaughters Lynn Minnix (Kevin) and Leslie Buchanan of Roanoke. In addition, Adreana is survived by six great grandchildren Sydney Fitzgerald, Nathan Bonifas, Alexander Minnix, Tyler Bonifas, Brooke Bonifas and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to extend special thanks to her nephew Michael Garbee for his loving support, to Dr. David Smith and to Gentle Shepherd Hospice for the excellent care they provided.
