Lina Hale Ore, age 98, passed peacefully from this life on April 3, 2018, at McKendree Village Health Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Born November 27, 1919, in Long Island, Va., she attended Virginia State College for Teachers and graduated from Longwood College. Her teaching career spanned over 40 years in Campbell County, Virginia, retiring from Yellow Branch Elementary. A lifetime resident of Campbell County, she was a member of the First Baptist Church, Altavista, Virginia.
She is preceded in death by daughter, Donna W. Jayson; husband, Frank D. Ore; brother, James L. Hale; and two sisters, Marian Robbins Whitesel and Ivey Mae Lewis. She is survived by nieces, Rennie Robbins (Pete Davis) of Kansas City, MO, Sally Robbins Buck of Ft. Worth, TX, Pegeen (Mike) Standish of Colleyville, TX; nephews, Danny Hale of Forest, Va., and Trey (Beth) Lewis of Nashville, TN.
Family and friends will gather for visitation from 4 to7 p.m. on Friday, April 6, 2018, at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018, at 11 a.m., at Spring Hill Cemetery, 3000 Fort Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24501, with Rev. Dr. Michael Lee officiating.
