Linda Argenio Engels

Linda A. Engels of Amherst, VA and formerly from Franklinville, N.Y. passed on November 1, 2011. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Artist, and Businesswoman.

Born in 1943 she was the daughter of Anthony and Alfrieda Argenio. Linda was raised in Buffalo, N.Y. and worked as a beautician in Orchard Park, N.Y. where she met and later married her husband Arthur.

In 1965, they relocated to Franklinville, N.Y. and purchased a grocery store that became known as Engels Market. Several years later Linda was instrumental in the development and operation of another family business, A&K Lumber and Building Supplies in Cadiz, N.Y. In addition to raising her family and running the family businesses, Linda traveled and enjoyed her many hobbies. She was a gifted artist and enjoyed painting, displaying and selling her work at art festivals across western New York and northern Pennsylvania.

She taught painting classes and mentored artists.

Linda was very well known and active in the communities she resided. She quietly volunteered her time, talent and resources to help numerous people and causes she supported. She had a strong work ethic and could do anything she set her mind to do. She was a great cook and loved her family, friends and pets.

She was a courageous lady and had a certain strength and confidence that is hard to describe but was admired and appreciated by everyone that knew her.

In the mid 1990\"™s Linda was able to realize her goal of retiring to the Blue Ridge Mountains where she enjoyed gardening, raising beef cattle and entertaining family and friends that were always welcome at their farm in Amherst, VA.

Linda will be greatly missed by her husband Arthur of 46 years and her two sons Arthur and Jonathan (Rhonda Kelley) Engels of Franklinville, a sister Patricia of Georgia and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Linda was predeceased by an infant son James, a sister Norma and brother Joseph.

A Celebration of Linda\"™s Life will be held at 6:00 p.m. tonight Thursday November 3, 2011 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home Madison Heights with Chaplain Miriam Dakin officiating.
