Linda Evans Allison

August 27, 1953 — March 19, 2019

Linda Leigh Evans Allison, 65, of Lynchburg, died Tuesday, March 19, 2019.

Born Thursday, August 27, 1953, in Norfolk, VA, Linda was a daughter of the late Geary Wayne Evans and the late Betty Rae Strickland Evans.

Linda is survived by her sister Cindy Dolan and her husband, Joe, three nieces: Erika Wood, Elizabeth Copes and her husband, William, and Erin Dolan, a great-niece, Sadie Dolan, two great-nephews, Joey and Laethan Copes, and her cat, Zazzles. She is also survived by her aunt, Jerry Harper of Jacksonville, FL, and her cousin, Lynne Brissette of Virginia Beach.

Linda was a proud graduate of Lynchburg College and received her master’s degree from USC.

Linda was retired from the human resources department at Buffalo Air Handling in Amherst, VA.  She was a member of the Red Hat Society and Timberlake United Methodist Church.  Several days each week, she enjoyed water aerobics at the Altavista YMCA, and treasured the friends she made there. She knitted the most beautiful gifts for those she loved, as well as making chemo caps for cancer patients and scarves for the homeless. She loved Guns N’ Roses and Bob Seger and made sure to introduce her nieces to the classics on trips to Nags Head; they have fond memories of those rides.  She loved cats and owls, and at different points in her life, collected both.  She loved basketball, especially UVA and the Chicago Bulls during the Michael Jordan era.  She lived life on her own terms, and after her retirement, often said she was now old enough to do what she wanted, when she wanted. Linda was a loyal friend, an irreplaceable older sister, and the cool aunt. She will be missed.

A celebration of Linda’s life will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Timberlake United Methodist Church with Pastor Brad McMullen officiating.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Lynchburg Humane Society’s City Cat Fix Program.
