Linda Woody Perry, 70, of Atlanta, Georgia, died surrounded by family on Monday, February 27, 2017, following an extended illness.
She was born in Lynchburg, Virginia on November 14, 1946 with a passion for academics and was the daughter of the late Earl Woody and Miriam “Gyn” Woody.
Raised in Lynchburg, Linda graduated from EC Glass High School where she participated on the basketball team and was also recognized as a top scholar in Latin by the state of Virginia. After graduation from high school, Linda was accepted into Agnes Scott College in Atlanta, Georgia where she pursued a Bachelor’s in Biology and was always known as an excellent student. Her academic pursuits led her to Emory University where she obtained her Master’s. “Woody’s” love for school led her to become a teacher, but soon thereafter she was accepted into Blue Cross Blue Shield’s Management Training Program. Not only was she one of the first women accepted into this program, she ended up working at Blue Cross until her retirement where she became a full time mother of her only child Graham Perry who she loved very much. She was an excellent bridge player and spent many days tutoring kids in area of which she lived in Atlanta. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed especially by her dog Missy and her grand dog Peaches.
Linda is survived by her only son, Graham Perry of Dallas, Texas, her sister Earleen Burford of Lynchburg, her niece Tia Burford of Denver, Colorado and her nephew Tyler Burford of St. Petersburg, Florida.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00pm, Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Fort Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.
