Lindsey Epps Edwards died peacefully in her home Monday morning, May 26, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born January 13, 1952, in Roanoke, Va. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Herbert Edwards, her four children, Carrington Neel (husband James Neel) Lynchburg, Va., Chrissie Swann (husband Lloyd Swann) Baltimore, Md., Meggie Tresca (husband Antoine Tresca) Sterling, Va., Christian Waller (Richmond, Va.), her seven grandchildren Allie, Jace, Burkett, Gus, Josephine, Matisse and Evie, and her two older sisters, Emily Saul (Roanoke, Va.) and Dardi McLeod (husband Alan McLeod) Richmond, Va. She was predeceased by her parents, Belva Kay Dardignac Epps and Frank Becker Epps of Roanoke, Va.
Lindsey was a 1970 graduate of Patrick Henry High School, in Roanoke, Va., and graduated The University of Richmond Westhampton College class of 1974, with a degree in Sociology. She devoted her life to the service and welfare of others, especially children. Her career led her to be the first administrator of the Family Prescription Program at Johnson Healthcare Center along with years of service with Lutheran Family Services, United Methodist Family Services, the YWCA, the United Way, and Interfaith Outreach.
To know Lindsey was to love her. With a carefree smile and a love for life that was contagious, she was a person to gravitate to, to confide in, a person to cherish.
In her free time, Lindsey enjoyed playing Mahjong, relaxing and sunbathing at Smith Mountain Lake, sewing for and loving on her grandchildren, reading, traveling and volunteering at Meals On Wheels.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for 40 years, in Lynchburg, Va.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor and loving memory of Lindsey to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Lynchburg or to the Lowe Syndrome Association (https://lowesyndrome.org/donate). This foundation supports the ongoing research and testing of potential drugs Aimed to reverse the symptoms of this rare disease, a condition of which Lindsey’s youngest grandson has been diagnosed.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 31 at 11:00 AM at St Paul’s Episcopal Church, 605 Clay St Lynchburg, Va.
