Linmon Alfred Bishop, 87, of Lynchburg, VA, died Monday, June 14, 2010. He was the husband of Joan Rouillard Bishop for 63 years.
Lin was born December 8, 1922 in Oswego NY, a son of the late Frank Bishop and Sophronia Parmiter Bishop. He was a proud member of the First Marine Division during World War II and fought in the major battles of the South Pacific.
He retired from General Electric Company after 36 years of service.
In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Linda Mathias and her husband, Terry, of Carbondale, IL, and Ruth Fairweather and her husband, Douglas and granddaughter Hannah Fairweather, of Concord, NC.
A Mass of Resurrection will be conducted at 1:00 pm. on Thursday, June 17, 2010 in St. Thomas More Catholic Church with Father Richard Mooney officiating. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
