Linnea Janis Lauer, 72, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at her home. She was the wife of Vernon Herbert Lauer for 55 years.
Born August 5, 1944 in Independence, Iowa, Linnea was a daughter of the late Luther Linne Morton and the late Thelma Griffith Morton.
In addition to her husband, Linnea is survived by her children, Andrea Marie Miller and her husband, Joseph, of Bramwell, WV, Paul Andrew Lauer and his wife, Marsha, of Goode, and Jennifer Anne Lauer and her companion, Sandy Williams, of Gretna, VA, two grandsons, Adam Matthew Lauer, of Goode and Benjamin William Miller, Bramwell, WV, three sisters, Noreen Morton Scott and her husband, Duane, of Kingwood, TX, Sheryl Morton Kotenbrink and her husband, Rod, of Houston, TX, and Ingrid Morton-Groth and her husband, Steve, Marion, IA, two brothers: Dr. Luther Judd Morton and his wife, Sue, Verona, WI, and David Morton and his wife, Mary, Marion, IA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Linnea was dedicated to her family. She was the family historian and loved researching hers and Vernon’s families. She loved to travel and to cook. Linnea not only loved to drink Coke Cola, but had an extensive collection of Coke memorabilia.
The family will receive family and friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A celebration of Linnea’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church with the Pastor Steve Shackelford officiating.
