Linwood “Lenny” Cole, 93, formerly of Danvers, MA passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 12, 2023. He was the son of the late George Horace Cole and Flossie Mae Lawrence.

Lenny was born on March 4, 1929, in Hallowell, ME. He was a graduate of Lynn English High School and a war-time U.S. Army veteran.  He married the love of his life, Joan Landry, and was happily married to her for more than 54 years.  Together, they were active members of Holy Trinity United Methodist Church of Danvers.  Len and Joan were also early members of the North Shore Association for Retarded Children and Len was the second president of the North Shore ARC .  He managed Bell Market of Beverly for 40 years.

Lenny was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He advocated tirelessly for his handicapped daughter, Pamela, and many others in his sphere of influence.  He enjoyed playing competitive pool, sharing meals with friends, and going out for coffee anytime day or night. Preceded in death by his three brothers; Aubrey, Wesley, and Leland; and two sisters; Sadie and Bessy; wife Joan; daughter Pamela; and brother-in-law, Richard Landry.

He is survived by two daughters, Sherry Gruber of Forest, VA and Debrale Murphy of Fitchburg, MA; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

A memorial celebration of Lenny’s life will be held at North Shore Community Baptist Church in Beverly Farms, MA on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Topsfield, MA.
