Lloyd Charles Cassidy Jr., CMDR USN (Retired) 87, of Forest, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at home. He was born January 5, 1929, in Detroit, MI, and was the son of the late Lloyd & Mary Cassidy. Lloyd was the devoted husband of the late Mary Anne Cassidy for 55 years and a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather to his family.

To cherish his memory, he is survived by two sons, Lloyd Charles Cassidy III (Monica) of Glenview, IL, Michael Warren Cassidy (Karinna) of Rolling Hills Estates, CA; two daughters, Susan Cassidy Postans (George) of Celebration, FL, Linda Cassidy Mlnarik (Robert) of Plymouth, MN; a brother, Warren Cassidy (Pat) of Highland, MI; a sister, Marilyn Beaudoin (Don) of Dearborn, MI; his fourteen grandchildren, L. Charles IV, Tim (Cheryl), Marty (Caitlyn) and Marianne Cassidy; Liz Dempsey (Eoin); Jo Jo Sampson (Marc), Blair Pircon (John), Molly Wolferd (Rich), Bo and Chase Mlnarik; Zachary Postans, Rebecca Rocca (Jay); Kiley and Sophia Cassidy; and eleven great-grandchildren, Noirin, Cerise, Damien and Anne Marie Dempsey; Evelyn, Harvey and Mary Anne Wolferd; Emma and Oliver Cassidy; Avery Cassidy; Graham Sampson.

Prior to his successful and rewarding business career Lloyd served in the United States Navy as a Naval Aviator, retiring as a Commander after 20 years of service. Lloyd was a long-standing and active member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, had a life-long dedication to fitness, was a true gentleman and was an inspiration to all. He loved his family and lived each day to its fullest. He will be greatly missed.

A funeral Mass presided by Monsignor Michael McCarron will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at noon.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:00 p.m. in the church Commons and following the Mass there will be a reception.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St Thomas More Church, the United States Navy Memorial or the Folds of Honor.
