Lois Elizabeth Stacy Garlough, age 83, passed peacefully in her home, August 14, 2021.  She was born March 10, 1938 in Dayton, Ohio and baptized on Easter Sunday 1938 by her father, The Rev. C.B. A. Stacy, Pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Dayton, Ohio.  She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Richard A. Garlough of Moneta, VA; her son, James Clifton Garlough and his wife, Yolanda of Moneta, VA; her son, Randolph Edward Garlough and his wife, Joycey of Alexandria, OH; grandchildren, Nichole Garlough, Kyle and Kimberly Garlough, Chris and Samantha Adams, Alan Requimin, Brittany McClamma, Bryan and Alelyn Neal, all of VA, and Kimmy Montgomery-Carver of OH; great-grandchildren, Thomas Requimin, Natalie Garlough, and Hank Neal; brother-in-law, James Edward Garlough of Lancaster, OH; sister-in-law, Virginia Stacy of Fort Myers, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.  Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. C.B.A. Stacy and Helen Elizabeth Saur Stacy; her sister, Miriam Jean Stacy Whetstone and her husband Al; her brothers, Rev John C. Stacy and wife, Hazel. Rev. David B. Stacy; sister-in-law, Margaret Wysong and her husband Jerry.

Lois grew up on a farm near Lucas, Ohio and the town of New Springfield, Ohio where her father served Lutheran churches.  She met Richard Garlough at college, married at Presbyterian Church in Sebring, Ohio and moved to Rantoul, Illinois where Richard was serving in the U.S. Air Force and where they adopted their two young sons, brothers, Cliff and Randy.

The family lived in Liverdun, France and Speicher, West Germany while Richard served in the U.S. Air Force.  Their return to the United States took them to Dale City, VA where Richard served the U.S. Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA.  They moved to Moneta, VA where they have made their home for over 30 years.

Lois attended Springfield Township High School in Petersburg, OH, Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH and Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke, VA where she earned an Associate in Accounting Degree, Magna Cum Laude.

She was a past President of the Protestant Women of the Chapel, worked with Navy Relief of Marine Corps Base, Quantico, President and Stewardship Chairman of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Stewardship Interpreter for Virginia Synod, ELCA, Chair of the Virginia Missions Committee of the Virginia Synod, ELCA, President of Trinity Lutheran Church, Stewardship Chairman of Trinity Ecumenical Parish, volunteer at Lake Christian Ministries, and Treasurer of SML Good Neighbors, Inc.

Lois was a licensed Life, Health and Annuities agent with Lutheran Brotherhood, and a licensed Property and Casualty agent with Ed Marshall Aviation Ins. Co. and Nationwide Insurance. Most recently she was a licensed Office Professional for Life, Health and Annuities and a FINRA Registered Representative with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

Lois was a charter member of Trinity Ecumenical Parish in Moneta, VA where she served as the Team Leader of the Christian Education Ministry for 5 years. She was a charter member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a past member of the Parish Council. She was also a charter member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Woodbridge, VA.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to caregiver, Stephanie Poindexter, and numerous family members for their loving care of Lois. The family also requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to SML Good Neighbors, Inc., Lake Christian Ministries or Trinity Ecumenical Parish, all of Moneta, VA. Please place Lois E. Garlough on the memo line.

A memorial service is planned at Trinity Ecumenical Parish, Moneta, Virginia.
