Lois Maddox Coleman

With her family by her side, Lois Maddox Coleman, 74, of Lynchburg, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012. Born January 19, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Alfred C. Maddox and Elsie W. Maddox. Mrs. Coleman was retired from Limitorque Corporation. She was a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church.

Mrs. Coleman is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Milton D. Coleman, daughter Sandra L. Coleman of Forest, son, Jeffrey D. Coleman and wife Donna of Evington, and her \"two girls,\" granddaughters, Melissa A. Rolfes of Lynchburg, and Cristen A. Coleman of Evington.

She is also survived by her sister, Doris M. Morris (Mac) of Rustburg,: three brothers; Richard E. Maddox (Nancy) of Monroe, Nowlin O. Maddox (Margie) of Lynchburg, Donnie R. Maddox (Betty) of Lynchburg, a brother-in-law, Carl E. Coleman (Daphne) of Lynchburg, and four sisters-in-law; Ruby C. Tyree, Anne C. Phillips, Dot Coleman, and Liz Coleman, all of Lynchburg. She is further survived by nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Since retiring, Mrs. Coleman has been a dedicated volunteer for the American Red Cross and Virginia Baptist Hospital Auxiliary. She loved to garden, travel, and spend time with her family and friends.

The family would like to thank the Lynchburg Rescue Squad, and the Doctors and staff in Medical ICU at Lynchburg General Hospital, for their care and support during this difficult time; a special thanks to Lisa, and \"our angel here on Earth\" Sarah (I.C.U.).

The family will receive friends on April 24, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, from 7:00-8:30 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted in the Chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. with the Pastor Jonathan Falwell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 2416 Langhorne Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24501 or the American Heart Association, 709 Mansfield Ave., Lynchburg, VA 24501.
