Lon Jackson Esteppe, Jr.

Lon \"Jack\" Jackson Esteppe, Jr, 85, of Lynchburg went to be with the Lord he so loved Wednesday, April 6, 2011. He was the loving husband of Ruby \"Mopsy\" Hosey Esteppe. They met at Marshall University on the dance floor and spent the next 65 years dancing together.  

Born in Williamson, WV, December 17, 1925 he was a son of the late Lon Jackson Esteppe, Sr and Gertrude Parsley Esteppe. Jack was a leader in his community. In 1966 he and his family moved from Charleston, WV to Lynchburg, where he established Esteppe Oldsmobile-Nissan. He then served as President of the Virginia Automobile Dealer Association, served on the board of Virginia Baptist Hospital, and a member of Heritage Baptist Church. Jack honorably served in the US Army during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart. In his spare time he loved to golf, hunt, and spend time with his beloved family.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Nancy Ellis (Sidney) of Virginia Beach and Jackie Mitchell of Lynchburg; two sisters, Doris Norris (Elwood) and Iris Lewis both of Roanoke; four grandchildren; Traci Angell (Steve) of Shreveport, LA, Todd Ellis (Kelly) of Suffolk, Amanda Mitchell and Karen Mitchell both of Lynchburg, and six great-grandchildren; Hannah, Sarah, Leah, and Joshua Angell, Jordan Mitchell, and Hayden Mitchell, and his two devoted caregivers Wendy and Julia.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 15, 2011, at Heritage Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Gerald Kroll officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park in the Masonic Garden.

The family will receive friend\"™s from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Heritage Baptist Church (Missions Fund) 219 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg VA 24502.
