Lonzie Elwood Tomlin, 74, of Lynchburg, died Friday, May 8, 2015. He was the husband of Catherine Millner Wills Tomlin for 9 years.
Born Wednesday, April 9, 1941 in Amherst County, Elwood was a son of the late Howard Scott Tomlin and Mary Tomlin.
In addition to his wife, Elwood is survived by a son, David Tomlin and his wife, Stephanie; two daughters: Rebecca Burks (Mike), and Dawn Nuckols; four stepchildren: Jennifer Hunter and fiancé, Steve Rickman, Jamie Harper, Jay Wills (Jennifer), and Deborah Argon (Gunes): a brother, Bernard Tomlin (Patricia), and a sister Darnelle Bryant (Howard), and ten grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Elwood was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Cash Tomlin, brothers, Howard and Anderson “Kap” Tomlin and sisters: Lena Banton, Lucy Bryant, Thelma Watts, and Martha Exum.
Elwood loved to hunt, fish, and take rides through the mountains and he was an avid Braves fan.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Monday, May 11, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg A celebration of Elwood’s life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory with the Rev. James “Wimpy” Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
