Lorraine Brown Harvey

Lorraine Brown Harvey, 65, of Bedford passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017 at UVA Medical Center after a long illness. She was born on September 17, 1951 in Long Branch, NJ. A daughter of the late Joseph F. Brown and Marjorie Garrity Brown.

She loved the Lord and taught Sunday school and youth ministries in churches in New Jersey and Virginia. She touched everyone she met with kindness and love. She loved spending time with her family and friends especially her grandkids. She loved her dogs very much as well as all animals.

She is survived by her husband, Tom Harvey of Bedford; two children, John Gilmour and his wife, Loriann of Forest and Amanda H. Mazingo and her husband, Stevie of Bedford; five grandchildren, Ashleigh, John Jr., Allyson, Emma and Marley; one sister, Claire Jane Alessi of Beach Wood, NJ. Lorraine had a large extended family of nephews, nieces and many friends who loved her dearly. She will be missed by all.

A service and celebration of Lorraine’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Joanne Newman officiating.
