Lorraine Sutherland Tomlin

Lorraine Sutherland Tomlin, 90, of  Bedford, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 30, 2024.  She was the wife of the late Paul Clifton Tomlin for 60 years.

Lorraine was born July 22, 1933 in Danville to the late Jesse and Annie Lynch Sutherland. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family more than anything.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her brothers, James and Raymond Sutherland; and sister-in-law Rachel Sutherland.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth Lee Tomlin and wife, Janis of Virginia Beach, James Michael Tomlin and wife, Lois of Lynchburg, Earl Clifton Tomlin and wife, Karon of Bedford, Harold William Tomlin and wife, Lou of Lynchburg, Jesse Allen Tomlin and wife, Sandy of Lynchburg, and Gail Tomlin Aldridge and husband, Woody of  Forest; ten grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and four step-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marguerite Sutherland and sister-in-law and lifelong friend, Maxine Vest.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg. Burial will follow at Virginia Memorial Park. Her Grandson, Reverend Lee Woodcock will be officiating the service.
